Note : Before you begin, please refer to KB1003490(http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003490) for important information on restarting the mgmt-vmware service.
To ensure virtual machine operations can be performed:
1. Run the following command to list all running virtual machines:
vmware-cmd -l
2. Run the following command to confirm the virtual machine state:
vmware-cmd
3. Run the following command to determine the processID (PID) for the virtual machine in question:
ps -auxwww | grep
4. Run the following command to kill the PID:
kill -9
5. After killing the process, restart the management agents as described in: Restarting the Management agents on an ESX Server (1003490).
6. Lastly, restart VirtualCenter Server service.
